Responsibilities: Innovative Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST)
The project is designed to increase motivation and preparedness to pursue science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers and develop enhanced instructional and curricular innovations for underrepresented students at risk. The project investigates the potential of culturally relevant computing through an Esports (competitive digital gaming) living-learning community to advance needed computational and data analytic competencies towards STEM career readiness. The project will leverage activities within the industry to accomplish four goals: 1) Enhancing attitudes, awareness, motivation and participation through culturally relevant computing. 2) Developing learning pathways that provide Esports industry STEM competencies. 3) Creating a learning model that promotes collaborative knowledge sharing behaviors. 4) Providing high quality learning opportunities by establishing STEM enrichment experiences for underrepresented at-risk youth.

Responsibilities: This initiative seeks to provide direct pipelines for professional and amateur athletes to corporate business careers. NAPSA is built on a vision that seeks to unlock hidden value and transform conventional paradigms regarding the preparation, perception, and value of elite athletes as they conclude the active playing phase of their careers. NAPSA is founded by Brad Mitchell, who consults fortune 100 companies as CEO of S4 consulting and was once the youngest cabinet member to occupy the oval office of President George W. Bush Sr. With an advisory board of nationally acclaimed talent and leadership, the NAPSA brand shows incredible promise as a premiere organization for unlocking hidden value in athletes.

Responsibilities: I joined a team of four talented and passionate learning designers as we develop effective opportunities for service learning within the field of instructional design. Our goal is to give instructional design, educational technology and instructional systems graduate students, authentic experiences through a virtual consultancy. We help nonprofits and other social enterprises achieve their missions by targeting performance gaps impacting the organization. Matched with nonprofits in service-learning projects, instructional design students develop solutions that are customized to the organization’s learning and performance improvement needs.

The Rise of E-Sports:

Role: Designer & Developer
Responsibilities: Created a game for a local football team. This game was designed to be customized to the team including their plays and formations. BuckBall has community language and visuals that are unique to the team members. This game is in its beginning stages and includes a single scene in which the ball carrier must avoid the defense by not allowing them to contact him. This builds awareness and develops the ball carriers ability to visualize and react to openings within a defense.

Responsibilities: This research looks at the uses and implementations of EconU game for intro to Economics course. I currently collect and analyze thousands of data points to improve the implementation and design of this game. I also help to revise and refine design and implementation of game.

Responsibilities: In an ongoing 3 year project, I organize and develop research to investigate the learning that occurs for boys during video game play. With my advisor, I lead a team of researchers that are diving into the minds of adolescent boys. We are discovering fantastic things that boys are learning from the commercial off the shelf games that they normally play.

Responsibilities: Lead a team to develop an instructional guide on implementation and use of eBackpack platform. This Learning Management System included the integration of mobile devices such as iPads and mobile devices for both educators and students. The team developed a guide for teachers to be able to more easily integrate these functions with their students.
